Great Manchester Run

Just 2 weeks to go until the 10k kicks off and the 422.TV team have been training HARD

Tor started training last Wednesday! and with a couple of 3 mile runs under her belt she is going to break the 1hr, with a good wind behind her.

Team leader Gemma has been forging forward and has just successfully completed the Chshire 10K in under 48 mins. She is running in support of Dementia and Breast Cancer and is aiming to raise £7500 in a year by running a staggering 1200miles.

Jen is looking to beat her best time this year

Alex is looking to get across the finish line without the need for the Red Cross.

Our newest member of the team, John Hebden is running in support of Cancer Research. He's suffering with a calf strain so a big cheer to him for gritting his teeth and pushing forwards.

Last but not least and quietly bringing up the rear of the pack is our shrinking violet Eileen. Go girl!
Eileen is running on behalf of her good friend Karen and The Brain Tumour Charity

Bloody Good Television

Tonight you'll have a chance to see some of our handiwork on BBC4's The Wonderful World of Blood presented by Michael Mosley.

 The Wonderful World of Blood

Probably not one for the squeamish, the show explores this sticky subject in extraordinary detail. Michael performs six experiments with his own blood, including injecting it with snake venom, and even seeing how it tastes by cooking it into a black pudding. Yum!

Most intriguingly of all, he discovers how young blood may in fact hold the secret  to science's Holy Grail - reversing the ageing process.

The offline editor was our very own Joe Speirs and with producer/director Nathan Budd, executive producer Jaqueline Smith and series producer Graeme Thomson they all made sure the programme flowed beautifully. The online and grade were taken care of by 422 as well.

The Wonderful World of Blood is on tonight  at 9pm on BBC4.

RUSSELL BRAND'S WAR WITH THE WAR ON DRUGS

We've been helping BBC Three investigate the war on drugs, in a new show airing now and available on the iPlayer. Produced and directed by Ross Wilson for Matchlight.

 Russell Brand War on Drugs

Tackling a very personal issue, Russell Brand examines how other countries tackle drug abuse, and how the implicit framework of criminalization harms the treatment of addicts.

As well as joining Metropolitan Police raids and meeting young British addicts, he travels to Berne, Switzerland to see one of their 'drug consumption rooms' and ultimately meets with Nick Clegg, discovering just how resistant the powers that be are to any change in attitude.

End the Drugs War showcases our talented in-house team with sound design by Will Cory and picture finishing by Ian Ballantyne & Neil Allan.

422 On Pole for the Duel in the Desert

Lewis Hamilton takes the championship after his 11th victory of the season. With both Mercedes drivers aiming to be crowned world champion the BBC worked with the team at 422 to develop the opening sequence.

Gemma Ackerley, Client Services Director said “ We were delighted to be commissioned by BBC Sport to produce the opener for the Abu Dhabi 2014 F1 Season Finale. We wanted to dramatise the showdown between the two Mercedes drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, who have been racing each other since they were schoolboys and who are now competing for the biggest title in their sport.”

The story is of two young boys playing together, battling to win. We then see flashbacks to key moments from this season's battles between the two team-mates, with the use of BBC archive footage. Directed By Chris Gaffey and Edited at 422 by award winning sports editor Chris Denton. The two young boys were played by Harvey Ackerley (Nico) & Freedom Doran (Lewis) represented by EKA Casting.

"Share a Story" another BAFTA winning program with help from 422.tv

CITV run a annual competition whereby children submit their stories and storyboards for a one minute animation. Eight winners are chosen and invited to oversee their ideas being brought to life. They record their own dialogue themselves with voice coaching by Marc Silk. The children also get to choose the animation style and work with the animators to design the characters.

For the third year CITV asked 422.tv Manchester to work on the program, designing the sound. Neil Haggerty comments on his time spent working with the team:

"It's a delight to work on "Share a Story" with Creative Director, Carl Hadley, and the team from CITV. The children's ideas always bring a smile to my face and have an originality and edge that only a child's mind could conjure up. It's a real pleasure to add those finishing touches in the mix with foley and sound effects to bring the characters alive"

For the THIRD year in succession the program has been awarded a BAFTA.
